Sigils
Chalk of the earth is said to be the stone wall of the Fae. Carefully measured designs in the right kinds of chalk will create powerful effects. Sigils may also be used as part of more extensive ritualistic craft.
Known Sigils
The use of sigils requires experience and skill. A rushed sigil, with mistakes, may not work as intended and may backfire on the practitioner. Chalk may be mixed with other substances e.g. root powders, ash, blood (consumptions)
Protection
Harm will avoid you if your brother or friend draws under your bed a clear Bear Sigil in good white chalk.
Barrier
Surround an object in a perfectly circular Wall Sigil in heavy handfuls of chalk to prevent anyone or anything not made of air or water from crossing. Take care you're out before you finish the circle because only a Crafted iron tool can disrupt the chalk once closed.
Pestilence
A nasty thing to do. Sprinkle moss on the floor to reveal a Blight Sigil laid by an enemy. Clear it away with a fresh sage broom.
Anchor
Lay down a Vice Sigil so that anyone who steps into it will be held there fast by the foot. Any chalk will do. Can only be broken by breaking the pattern with an object of natural wood.
Winnow
Delineate a Snake Sigil on the door of a room to prevent smells and sounds from being sensed without. Chalk must be balanced by arrowroot and refreshed every new moon.
Bolt
Carefully outline an intricate Web Sigil on a door or at a threshold in a mixture of good chalk and your own blood. If done well, it indefinitely prevents entry to others in your absence. Difficult to break without altering the Sigil with fresh blood. A form of blood craft which does not fall under forbidden craft.
