Conveyance craft

Conveyance craft is the enchantment of Doors that act as gateways between locations. It is a form of specialised craft.
Doors are permanent installations whereas Chalk is used on-the-go, and could result in accidents if not properly drawn .
How do doors work?
A mundane door is enchanted with Craft to be a portal between two fixed points.
The Door can be a regular door, opening in and out of a room or building or closet. Or the Door can be put on a wall, its only intended use being for travel.
Once the Door is opened in the correct way, anyone or anything may pass through it.
Some ways a Door may be opened, depending on the Door:
- Knocking
- Key
- Drop of blood
- Being a specific individual
- Password, activation with a focus, chalking the right symbol, etc
There is nothing special about the appearance of a Door. They can be large or small and they have as much variation as regular mundane doors. They may be locked from either side. Opening a door that has been locked from the other side will open it onto where it normally goes if it were not enchanted.
A Door can be physically damaged to the point it won't work. When a Door is thus damaged it's connection may need to be re-Crafted.
Very rare types of Doors:
- Exceptionally large doors
- Doors that open onto multiple destinations
Chalk
Skilled Touched can use chalk for Doorcraft. The chalk creates a temporary enchantment that can make doors on the fly. Chalk doors are one-way, require precision chalking, and last only as long as the chalking is intact. The markings for a safe door are intricate and exacting. A regular Door is far safer and more secure.
Creation and Regulation
Creating and connecting proper Doors is a specialized Craft regulated by the Consortium. The local Council Office maintains a directory of public doors and arranges for their inspection and repair. The Council or private doorman (doorknocker) can repair a broken door.
